Question of the day 1/17/09

The answer to yesterday’s question (When using policy based routing on an interface, in what direction is the policy applied?) is on inbound traffic.  When using policy routing on interfaces, IOS will only act on inbound traffic.  Think about it this way… in order to send traffic out an interface, a routing decision needs to be made.  So once the traffic is sent to the outgoing interface, routing is already done.  So policy routing couldn’t really do anything at that point.
